• (Cool mode note only) If you are not going to be using the heads for a long period of time set all the units in cool mode, turn the temperature on the remote all the way up and put the fan on high for 3-4 hours. This will dry the unit out to reduce the likelihood of building microbials on units which will create unwanted smells and unexpected maintenance costs to clean.
  • Do annual maintenances on system to catch any of these issues and freshen up on proper use.
  • If you live near water, your house experiences high humidity levels and a few other indoor air quality issues may cause your ductless system to create a smells (does not apply to heating season since heat does not create water) If this becomes an issue, an i-wave M air purifier is recommended.
  • All units need to be in the same mode.
  • All indoor units need to be set to either all heat or all cool. This is the most common mistake made during the off seasons.
  • If a mistake is made and one unit is on cool and one is on heat and the system is not working, there is a few things that can be done to correct this before calling for service:
    • Shut all heads off or put them in the off mode, once they are all off wait about 5 minutes and turn them all back on one at a time in the correct mode.
    • If the previous step did not work, shut all the units off by remote, go to the circuit breaker and shut off the breaker for 10 minutes. Turn the breaker back on and turn each unit on one at a time in proper mode, typically the first step works. If this does not correct the issue please call the office for a service call.
  • Heat pumps do not work like traditional systems. They are the most efficient when the temperatures of units are set to one temperature and all they have to do is maintain.
  • When units are turned on and off or the temperatures are constantly turned up and down, the electric consumption WILL be high
  • Change your remote batteries once a year. Batteries are either located behind remote or if the front of the remote slides down you must slide it down until cover comes off to access batteries.
  • Any remote can operate any head, the same remote can be used on all units.
  • The fan should ALWAYS be on, for Cool mode the fan should be set to high. In heating mode the fan should be set to med-med hi. - If the fans are not set properly the units/ air handler will not heat/cool the space properly.
  • Auto fan should only be used in small rooms.
